This is a Hadori polished Katana with a distinct red acid dyed blade. It is a sharpened, functional sword and a full tang piece. Its blade measures 72 centimeters long and 3.2 centimeters wide, and has a Tsuka that measures 27 centimeters long. The overall weight of the sword is 1.9 kilograms.

This Katana has a blade made with T10 folded clay tempered steel. Because of its adequate hardness, makes it a suitable sword for cutting practice. It can withstand and cut through most targets like Tatami mats, bamboo, and even tree branches.

This sword is not only for rigorous practice sessions, it also exudes aesthetic beauty. Its blade features traditional Hada or grain patterns due to the steel being folded. It also undergoes polishing to further improve the beauty of its Hamon.

Accessories of the Katana

The Katana comes with a Saya. It is crafted with seashell bird + real buffalo horn. The Saya is the sword’’s scabbard, and it works as a sheath for this Katana blade.

It is made to conserve the blade when the sword is kept on display. Aside from that, it lets you easily draw the blade during Tameshigiri.

This Katana also comes with a silk sword bag. You can use this while traveling to easily transport your blade to another place.

The Tsuka and the Fittings

This Katana is wrapped with a black Tsuka Ito. It contributes to the sword’s beauty and artistic value. It also helps prevent a variety of issues from occurring when you practice Tameshigiri.

Underneath the Ito is the red Samegawa. The wrap keeps the Tsuka dry even if your hands sweat while practicing. This makes gripping the sword easier since it will stay dry. With that, the chances of your sword slipping from your hands will be reduced.

For the fittings, this Katana has a Tsuba, Kashira, and Menuki which are all made of HQ Copper. An exception is the Fuchi that is made of metal. The Tsuba keeps guards your hand from your opponent’s strikes. The Menuki is a decorative piece of metal that is placed under the Tsuka Ito.

The Kashira and Fuchi are mostly for ornamental purposes. The Fuchi covers the opening at the end of the Tsuka. The Kashira is a fitting near the Tsuba. It also prevents the sword from slipping while keeping its balance.
