The Blade, its Features, and its Measurements
This Katana has a blade made from spring steel. It has a good amount of carbon which makes it extremely ductile. It can bend, twist, and still return to its original form.
Its blade is fully sharpened, making it functional which allows you to cut soft to medium targets. Since it has a full tang, this Katana will not easily break when you use it for Tameshigiri.
For the sizes of the blade, it is 80 centimeters long and 3.2 centimeters wide. Its Tsuka has a length of 29 centimeters to accommodate both hands. The weapon also weighs a good 2.1 kilograms.
The Handle
The handle of this sword is wrapped with a yellow Samegawa. This protects the Tsuka simultaneous with keeping your hands dry while also preventing slippage when practicing cutting techniques. With that, it prevents further dangerous accidents from occurring.
On top of the yellow Samegawa is the beautifully red Tsuka Ito. Aside from its aesthetic purpose, it prevents technical failure. With that, you can avoid accidents while engaging in cutting targets.
Fittings
For the fittings, it has a Tsuba that is made of iron. This material is hard enough to keep your hands protected from your opponents blade.
It also comes with the Fuchi and Kashira made of metal. These fittings are mainly for decorative purposes. The Fuchi is a cap type fitting that conceals the opening of the Tsuka. The Kashira, on the other hand, is another piece that is close to the Tsuba. It is at the top of the Tsuka to prevent your hands from slipping.
Aside from the aesthetics of the Tsuba, it helps maintain the swords balance. This allows you to use it for Tameshigiri. With adequate balance, performing various techniques will be easier.
Saya and Accessories
The Katana has a beautiful red lacquered Saya. To protect its blade, keep the sword in its wooden Saya when it is not in use. During practice of cutting techniques, this also allows you to easily draw your sword.
This Katana comes with its own sword bag. You can use this to easily and safely bring the sword from one place to another. The sword bag is made of silk.
