Nekode – Small but Deadly

Southeast Asia during ancient times has these small weapons known as Anki. These weapons were a typical representative of Kakushi-buki or concealed weapons. This is also a relative of the Shuko class known as Tekko-Kagi.

These were not purely classified as Ninja Weapons alone because there were different groups of people who used these. These were small enough to bring along as a form of self-defense or for the purpose of assassination.

Just as weapons during a period of time in Japan there is a need to camouflage so that this appears like a tool and not a weapon when it is seen. Anki in Chinese Martial Arts referred to as Nekode since these are used as Ninja Weapons.

These were used by fighters of Kung-fu. They like finger caps made of iron weighing approximately about 70 grams. On top of the Ninja Nekode was sharp nails attached to it.

Neko in Japan means Cat. De means hand. Putting these two Japanese words together produce the words Nekode. These were not just simple nail-like Ninja Tools because Ninjas dipped these in poison that even when grazing the enemies will kill them.

There was a period of time when elderly people used Anki for protection. However, when wearing Ninja weapons like these ones can get arrested because they may look like thimbles but, they are recognized for what they were for.

For this reason, it would be better to use these for collection purposes. There was a time though when wearing these will not give citizens a penalty for doing so.

However, these were worn specifically when needed since wearing these will give away the identity of the Ninja.
