How Are Samurai Swords Different from Other Swords?
Samurai swords, particularly the Katana, are some of the most recognized and revered weapons in history. They differ significantly from other historical swords in terms of design, construction, and usage. Samurai Swords Design and Structure
Curved Blade vs. Straight Blade:
The most distinctive feature of a samurai sword is its curved, single-edged blade. This design contrasts sharply with many European swords, which are typically straight and double-edged. The curve, or sori (反り), in a samurai sword enhances its cutting ability, allowing for a smoother, more effective slicing motion.
