Samurai Katana Sword

The Katana blade is crafted from top quality T10 steel. It’s sharpened and polished by the traditional Japanese Hadori method. The tsuba and grip fittings are handmade of high quality copper and the tsuka grip is wrapped in authentic white rayskin and overlaid with black silk ito grip wrap. A pair of copper menuki are fitted beneath the wrap.
The saya is made of unprocessed fresh ray skin samegawa. It is 100% authentic and the kurigata and both ends of the saya are made out of brown authentic buffalo horn. Due to the limited availability of unprocessed fresh ray skin, this unique saya is rarely found on sword market. It is one of the highest grades katana meant for use for the practitioner or collector. It comes with a certificate of authenticity, and is guaranteed to cut tatami bamboo pole using proper cutting techniques.
The sword steel is folded 13 times creating 8192 layers and it’s been clay differentially tempered and polished by Hadori method – the traditional Japanese classical process- the Hadori polish (also known as the KEISHO). The blade exhibits clear curly grain patterns and a natural authentic wave hamon. The hamon has been enhanced by Hadori polishing using a coarser abrasive than the body of the blade, leaving it whiter in appearance. In other words, the blade smith uses a stone called Hazuya and whitens the area that further enhances the shape of the Hamon.
The Tsuba, Fuchi and Kashira are all made of high quality copper featuring Japanese blossom theme. Every aspect of the sword has top notch finish.

If you are not familiar with the making of Japanese swords, Hamon (from Japanese, literally means “blade pattern”) is a visual effect created on the blade by the clay hardening process.
A Hadori finish can be applied to almost any sword. Few people do not like Hadori finish because when it is done too heavily it hides the details of the Hamon, but when it is done well it actually enhances the visibility of the crystalline structures. The ultimate purpose of this procedure is to reveal the best of the hamon.
The tsuka (handle) is made of hardwood and authentic white ray skin samegawa. The balance of the blade is perfect and the sword is completely functional. It can be used for drills, practice or target cutting (tameshigiri) such as bamboo and tatami mats.
