This Tachi is a great blade to have in your arsenal of swords. Like other samurai swords available on our shop, it’s an excellent full tang and functional piece that can immediately be used for cutting practice or training.

The Bohi and The T10 Steel

This Tachi features a blade made of T10 folded clay tempered steel. This has 1% of carbon and a hardness of 62. This type makes it great for target cutting, allowing you to slice through bamboo, tree branches, etc. You can also do extensive Tameshigiri using the Tachi.

Since the steel goes through the folding process, you will see the classic Hada on this sword’s blade surface.

It also comes with the Bohi or a blood groove. It doesn’t have anything to do with blood, but it helps the Tachi become lighter and easier to wield. The Bohi gives excellent sound whenever you swing the sword. You will get great feedback on its angle and the speed of its cut.

Tachi Measurements

This Tachi is fully functional because of its sharpened blade. You can use this immediately upon purchase, ready for Tameshigiri or practice cutting in your backyard.

The blade of this sword is 72 centimeters long and 3.2 centimeters wide. Its Tsuka has a good length at 27 centimeters, allowing you to grip the sword comfortably. Its overall weight is 1.95 kilograms

The Tsuka, Ito, and Samegawa

Just like other samurai swords, this Tachi features a Tsuka Ito. It comes in a nice black color that goes perfectly with the white ray skin Samegawa.

The Ito is commonly called the Tsuka Ito which simply means handle wrap. The main purpose of this part is not only aesthetic but functional as well. It protects the Tsuka from any issues when using the sword and lifts towards its turns, making it even.

For the white Samegawa, this also protects and wraps this Tachi’ Tsuka. Its main job is to keep your hands from sweating too much when gripping the sword. However, it also prevents your hands from slipping right over the Tsuka. This is a common occurrence when using a sword during practice.

Fittings, Aesthetics, and Tachi Accessories

The Tachi has a couple of fittings included. They are the Menuki, Kashira, Tsuba, and Fuchi which are all made using HQ copper.

This sword isn’t only about power, strength, and efficiency when it comes to training. It also exudes beauty and aesthetics which is evident on its full rayskin Saya with Buffalo horn. You have the option to choose the color of your rayskin: from black, red, or green, depending on your preferences.

Aside from these, the blade comes with a nicely-made silk sword bag for carrying the sword around.
