The Black Kurogane 9260 Folded Spring Steel Ninjato is a straight ninja sword capable of target cutting while still remaining versatile enough to perform complex cutting. It will endure regular cutting activities and resist bending.
The blade of the sword has been handmade from 9260 folded spring steel. It was achieved by painstakingly folding each layer of steel to create the grain pattern. This type of blade has more lateral strength and is easier for Tameshigiri (bamboo/mat cutting) from the weight and the reduced drag. The 9260 spring steel through hardened blade ensures it is strong enough to handle both hard and heavy traditional targets. However, the blade is still balanced enough to tackle complex cutting.
The balance of the blade is perfect and the sword is completely functional. It can be used for drills, practice or target cutting (Tamashigiri)
The 9260 is a silicon alloy which has a significantly increased fatigue resistance compared to standard carbon steel. The addition of 2% silicon changes the behavior of the steel drastically for use in samurai sword.
