Tanto Knife

The Tanto blades first made their appearance around the 8th century during the Heian Period. Later the Tanto have been developed and were considered as functional Japanese swords which used similar steel as the famous Samurai Katana.
Another result of their functional use was that not many survived from this period. It was during this time, and the years up until the 16th century, that the Tanto was worn with the Tachi as the Daisho of the Samurai. Women would also sometimes wear a smaller version of the Tanto in their Obi for self defense.
The blade of the sword has been constructed with T10 tool steel and sharpened by our 12 stage traditional process. It has been folded 13 times, creating 8192 layers.
The blade features a Bo-Hi (groove) for better balance. The Kissaki is medium with a well defined Yokote. The Tsuba (guard), Fuchi (collar), and Kashira (pommel), are are crafted expertly and feature a dragon theme.
