You are looking at a naked folded steel Japanese blade. The concept of this naked blade dates back to pre-Heian times.
The blade of the sword has been handmade from 1095 folded steel. ItÂ’s been folded 13 times creating 8192 layers of steel.
This difference in the hardness allows the blade to be flexible as well has extremely hard. The handle is wrapped with black nylon cord. A synthetic black leather holster cover is included.
The balance of the blade is good and the sword is completely functional. Blade is sharp, solid, it can cut things like bamboo, tatami mat, water bottle.
